nmcbn-december-flyer

Hope you are all back in regs after bulking up over Thanksgiving.  We’ll have our monthly meeting on the third Thursday15 December 16, at 1730.

We’ll be meeting this month at a new venue to ensure we have some separate space to meet and greet.  This is another veteran-friendly site near a highway that we thought would give a try.  So, please join us at 100th Bomb Group20920 Brookpark Road, near the junction of I-480 and I-71 and just outside Hopkins Airport.  We will be on the far right side of the building after walking in, passing two dining sections.  The host or hostess should also be able to guide you to our location if you have any questions.

As always, please spread the word – lot of new connections made around the Birthday last month so hit those ladies and gentlemen up to come raise a glass and get their tolerance back where Marines are expected to have it for the holidays.

I look forward to your feedback on the venue and our next year with NMCBN.  Look forward to seeing you next week!

S/F,
Brendan

July Chapter Meeting –
Thursday, 21 July at 1730
Oak Barrel in Valley View

Please join your fellow Cleveland Marines for our July meeting at Oak Barrel in Valley View. As always, this will go on the third Thursday (21 July 16) at 1730.

Happy July and happy belated Independence Day.  I hope you all enjoyed the past month of sunshine and sports reveling with the Cavs’ championship and Indians’ record-breaking streak.  Over the past year and a half, throw in the Buckeyes, Monsters, and others I’m forgetting, extend these performances a few more seasons, and you’re faced with the strange possibility that today’s kids may grow up believing we are and always were a home of sports greatness.

Regardless, greatness among Marines is fact rather than perception, and so I look forward to seeing our great members on the usual third Thursday of the month, 21 July at 1730 aboard the Oak Barrel in Valley View (5975 Canal Rd).  We’ll have some brief updates on veteran events around town and the granddaughter of a Belleau Wood Marine will be bringing in family heirlooms from her grandfather’s service to share with us.  Look forward to seeing you then.

As always we ask that everyone pass this to any and all Marines to build the group.  (We just hit our 150th member in the LinkedIn group and this list is north of 225.)

S/F,
Brendan

September Chapter Meeting – Thursday, 17 September at 1730
Last Mavis Winkles Event (5005 Rockside Road, Independence, OH)

Good Day Marines and Welcome to September,

Continuing our great series of happy hours, the Cleveland Chapter will meet at our “usual” spot on the Third Thursday of the month.

Unfortunately Mavis Winkles is closing their Independence location this month, and so we will be seeking a new watering hole for future months.

Look forward to seeing you later this month to bid hail and farewell to the venue.

August Chapter Meeting – Thursday, 20 June at 1730
Mavis Winkles (5005 Rockside Road, Independence, OH)

Good Day Marines and Happy August,

The July meeting was another success with several new faces.  As we discussed at our last meeting, the group continues to gain momentum – Cleveland is now the largest LinkedIn subchapter in the national group (over 5,300 members in the national group), the Facebook group is on the move, and we’re approaching 120 members on this mailing list.  Several valuable connections have already been made, and our members are leaning into serving Marines in northeast Ohio with veteran job fairs and by working to bring Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation events to Cleveland.

To continue to build this years’ accomplishments, we ask that you join us at our next meeting on the Third Thursday of the month, August 20 at 1730 at Mavis Winkles (5005 Rockside Road in Independence).  Much of our success each month is built on new faces, so please spread the word and bring a new Marine to continue with our growth.

I look forward to seeing you there, and please do not hesitate to reach out with your questions or comments in advance.

Semper Fi,
Brendan

July Chapter Meeting – Thursday, 16 June at 1730
Mavis Winkles (5005 Rockside Road, Independence, OH)

The June meeting of the National Marine Corps Business Network’s Cleveland Chapter will be Thursday, 16 June at 1730 – Mavis Winkles (5005 Rockside Road, Independence, OH)

The last two meetings have had excellent attendance as we have increased our outreach to contact more Marines in the area.

The July meeting highlights will include:

  • An opportunity to meet new members
  • Leadership providing an update on the group
  • Our mid- to long-term civic goals.
  • Looking for candidates for the “Member Business Spotlight” to be introduced on MarinesCLE.com and MarinesNEO.com.

Look forward to seeing you there!

June Meeting

The June meeting of the National Marine Corps Business Network’s Cleveland Chapter will be meeting Thursday, July 18th at Mavis Winkles in Independence (5005 Rockside Road, right next to I-77). We have the room set aside beginning at 5:30 PM, feel free to stop by then or anytime throughout the evening as your schedule permits.

The June agenda will include identifying chapter goals and value added – we want to hear what you need out of this group – along with introductions of the leadership team and updates on progress made in the past month.

To help grow our chapter please:

  • Inform at least two northeast Ohio Marines who haven’t been involved in the NMCBN yet and encourage them to join us going forward.
  • Create or update your free basic account on the nationwide Network site:  http://www.nmcbn.com/
  • Join our LinkedIn chapter group to connect with our membership on the business-oriented social network:  https://www.linkedin.com/grp/home?gid=2674355

NMCBN – Cleveland Chapter

As some of you know, we reorganized in recent months to take on more responsibility as members, ensuring the Network adds value for all Marines involved and continuing to build momentum in our AO.  We will use the May meeting as an opportunity to find out specifically what that means for you and plan the coming year in accordance with our individual and group business objectives.

While it’s up to you to help define our 2015-2016 scheme of maneuver, phase one is growth.  The Network must add Marines we don’t already know.  I’m confident everyone reading agrees with me:  You see EGAs on cars every day, you’re not sure where all these Marines are hiding, but you know we’d be a serious professional network if we all got in touch.

Brendan Clark
